General Information

Organized by Jeff Jones, the original Big Enchilada was a staple of chess in the triangle area for the three years it ran (2012-2014). We are bringing it back in his memory and hosting it on NC State's campus in downtown Raleigh.

  • Please bring your own equipment- limited equipment available on site. Equipment is provided for Scholastic event.
  • Park for free in Coliseum Parking Deck or on street in front of Talley. Any parking marked M-F, 9-5 is free during the hours of the tournament. Do not park in any spots marked "reserved" or "24-hour towing"- they are actively enforced!

u1000 Scholastic Side Event

Saturday, February 15th

  • Open to all scholastic players rated less than 1000. New players welcome (USCF membership required, can be purchased on site).
  • Format: Four round SS in two sections by rating. If turnout is low, sections may be combined. Clocks and sets provided.
  • Time Control: g/30 increment 5
  • Round Times: 10:00 AM, 11:15 AM, 1:00 PM, 2:15 PM.
  • Entry Fee: $25 online until 2/14, $30 on site until 9:45 AM.
  • Prizes: First place trophy, 2nd-5th place medals in each section. If sections are combined, bottom half of section eligible for class prize trophies and medals in addition to overall prizes.
